Her childhood passion for dolls, puppets, and stage led Vida to set out on a remarkable journey of bringing puppets to life on live stage as well as the screen. An award winning puppeteer and puppet builder, Vida Ghahremani launched her artistic career in 1985. She was a regular performer on Iran’s National TV where she designed stages and puppets for numerous shows. In 1996, Vida won the Best Director’s prize at the video section of the International Children Film Festival in Iran. Since she came to Canada, Vida has been producing and directing puppet shows in Toronto where her most charming puppet, Mobarak, has won the hearts of people of all ages over and over again. Vida’s puppet performances reflect her vision of inspiring hope, confidence, happiness, and imagination in her young audience. In Tirgan, she recounts the story of “Fairy King’s Daughter” that falls in love with the commoner, Mobarak, while trying to fulfill the wish of the feeble and old king who wants to see his daughter married to a noble man of her rank. Vida will also a hold workshop to teach children of 5 to 12 year old to make a puppet and perform a show (in English).
