Shanbehzadeh Ensemble offers a unique variety of hypnotic dances and traditional music from southern Iran and more precisely from the unknown region of Boushehr. The main instruments include the Neyanban (Iranian bagpipe), Neyjoti (double flute), Dammam (dual faced percussion), Zarbetempo (percussion), traditional flute, Senj (local type of cymbals) and Boogh (horns).
Founded in 1990, the ensemble directed by Saeid Shanbehzadeh has delighted audiences in Iran, Asia, Australia, Europe and North America in numerous performances combining rhythms and melodies with Persian, Arabic, Indian and African influences.
Shanbehzadeh’s performances include instrumental and vocal music and dance. He plays Neyanban and Neyjofti and delivers dynamic songs and dance routines. He has performed in concerts with recognized artists as Billy Cobham and collaborated with the French Montalvo/Hervieu Company in creating and touring with the “Babelle Heureuse” show with more than two hundred performances in France, Europe and Brazil.
Shanbehzadeh Ensemble, featuring Saeid Shanbehzadeh, Naghib Shanbehzadeh, and Habib Meftah-Bushehri, will perform music and dance of southern Iran in Tirgan 2011.
