Saman Shahi

An Iranian-Canadian composer and pianist, Shahi started his music education in his teens. Later in Canada, he obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Composition and Piano performance from the University of Toronto.
Saman’s musical writings bring a new element of synthesis to the western art of music; one that brings back sounds of his heritage, melodies from his childhood in Tehran, and also juxtaposing his dual identity.
Shahi has been performing as a solo pianist and as a collaborative pianist with groups such as Gamut Ensemble and Toy Piano Composers. Shahi is currently studying in a Masters program in Composition at the University of Toronto.
In Tirgan, Saman Shahi will perform one of his compositions, Arash, a string trio.
