Sadreddin Zahed
Theater
An actor, director, educator, writer, and translator of significant contributions, Zahed began his theatrical career in The Theatre Workshop while he studied at Tehran University’s College of Arts. His performance in “Orgast in Presepolis” directed by Peter Brook in Shiraz’s Festival of Arts in 1971 was hailed by critics as one of the world’s greatest performances. In the same year, Zahed and a group of Iranian actors founded “The City Theatre Group” with numerous performances in Asia and Europe.
After obtaining his master’s degree at Sorbonne University, Zahed acted in plays such as “Barsissa, the Great Satire” or “Margaret and the Master” directed by Andrea Sherban. In 2007, he directed his own short plays which led him to “Ouvert, Jardin Dever Theatre” and later directing and acting in “The Iranian Short Stories” in the “Centre for Experimental Theatre” in Rome.
In 2011, he founded the Iranian-French Association of D-Nué Theatre and directed “The Amazing Animal”, winner of the Francophone Award from Cité Université Theatre, and “the Fear and the Wretchedness of the Third Reich”, the final Choice of Arleken Festival.
In Tirgan, Sadreddin Zahed will appear in “Zohreh and Manouchehr”, a play based on Iraj Mirza’s epopee.
