Taimaz Moslemian
Visual Arts
Taimaz Moslemian is a Toronto-based artist currently completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the OCAD University. His interdisciplinary practice considers masculinity, religion and self-identity in a layered approach to photographic production that incorporates sculpture and video works.
Moslemian has been an active member of the Toronto arts community since his arrival in Canada in 2002. He is a member of the Board of Directors at Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography. Moslemian's works have been exhibited locally and internationally, in such venues as CONTACT Photography Festival, John B. Aird Gallery, Toronto, and Magacin Gallery, Belgrade. His pieces can be found in numerous corporate and private collections.
For Tirgan, Moslemian will be exhibiting Twelve Imams and My Ten Fingers. The suite of eleven images represents the artist’s interest in defining the relationship between religion and the human mind and body. With this work Moslemian proposes a set of unique questions in regards to one's relationship to religion and the nature of existence.
